Google+ reaches 400M users, 100M monthly active users !!!

The social network of the search giant has been perceived as a bit of a ghost town, but according to Gundotra the Google project already has 400 million registered users.
That’s really good compared to Facebook’s nearly 1 billion users, considering that Google+ is still very young – it was only a year ago when it opened its doors for the public at large. It also compares pretty well to the 500 or so million of Android devices (and Android is the biggest smartphone OS by a large margin).

A good deal of the users are active too – the Google social network boasts 100 million active users.
If that kind of growth continues Google+ might finally start posing a serious thread to Facebook.

New Windows 8 applications. OneNote and Lync represent the first new Windows 8 style applications for Office. These applications are designed to deliver touch-first experiences on a tablet. A new radial menu in OneNote makes it easy to access features with your finger.
Included in Windows RT. Office Home and Student 2013 RT, which contains new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote applications, will be included on ARM-based Windows 8 devices, including Microsoft Surface.

Sony Mobile announced Xperia go and Xperia acro S - two new stylish, durable and water resistant smartphones

Sony has just announced the Xperia Go, a 3.5-inch water-resistant Android 2.3 smartphone, which will be known as the Xperia Advance over in the United States. It has earned IP67 certification for its dust and water resistance, whereas the other newly announced phone today, the Xperia Acro S, makes do with the lower standards of IP55 and IP57. Both should be able to withstand a splash of water, though.

The Xperia Go comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor, a scratch-resistant mineral glass display with "wet finger tracking" — a useful feature if you are actually going to rely on its advertised water resistance — and a 5-megapixel camera.

First Images of Alleged Apple's Next-Generation iPhone revealed with larger screen, metal back !!!

In our earlier post we said Next iPhone will have bigger scree. The image of Next iPhone hit the internet.

The very first images of what are believed to be external components of Apple's sixth-generation iPhone have emerged on the web. In case the published photos actually depict exterior of the next-generation iPhone,then the device will look and feel pretty much identically to the current iPhone 4/4S models. Still, there will be a number of important additions.


Most notably, it looks like the width of the phone hasn't been altered and the phone is much taller. As a result, according to various sources the resolution is 1136 x 640 pixels, making the screen 3.99 inches in diagonal.

The next major change is the back, which is now almost fully metal with only a small part of the top and bottom being glass. Again, this may be just a prototype Apple has been working on, but if it turns out to be the real deal, the aluminum back from iPhone's of old is back.

No comment regarding this is not available from Apple.

Facebook is working on a Facebook phone with ex-Apple engineers !!!

Facebook is hoping to release its own smartphone by next year, according to a report published in New York Times.
For this the company has also hired more than half a dozen software and hardware engineers who formerly worked at Apple on the iPhone and iPad.

This is Facebook's third attempt at making a Facebook phone, with the first one being abandoned back in 2010 and last year they worked with HTC to create a smartphone, codenamed 'Buffy'.

One engineer who formerly worked at Apple and worked on the iPhone said he had met with Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s chief executive, who then peppered him with questions about the inner workings of smartphones. It did not sound like idle intellectual curiosity, the engineer said; Mr. Zuckerberg asked about intricate details, including the types of chips used, he said. Another former Apple hardware engineer was recruited by a Facebook executive and was told about the company’s hardware explorations.

Facebook would not necessarily challenge Apple if it entered the smartphone marketplace. Instead, it could be Facebook vs. Google, which makes the Android operating system, with both companies going after a huge number of buyers of lower-priced smartphones.
